Time To Pack Things Up

Well, there's only 16 days to go before my enrollment day into Malaysian Flying Academy, so it's time for me to vacate the room which i've been living in for 3 years. Actually, i rented the house together with 2 other friends of mine, both are suffering from "malfunction of cognitive faculty" - another words for TOTAL MADNESS (hahahaha, u guys really are mad) :P

It's sufficient to say that it's fun to live here. We had so much great time together. Sadly enough, it's time to move on, to pursue the dream. So today what i did was to pack things up before going back to my hometown. I'll be in Kota Bharu for a week before leaving for Melaka on the 15th of November and the big day would be on the 16th.

Guess what i found when i was packing up my 'harta karun'?

My first handphone!!! It is Nokia 5110. I always keep my "first" of everything except for love. Hehehe~ :)

Medals from high school, way back in the 90's

The partipant's pass - i still keep most of them. Miss those days...

Hmm...my soon-to-be-packed wardrobe + riding jacket (yeah, i'm a fan of Repsol Honda Team's Dani Pedrosa, Andrea Dovizioso and former champ - Mick Doohan)

Last but not least - the uniforms. Dunno why did i buy so many of them, what u see is only half of it. Hehehe :)

I have worn the sacred robe of Advocate and Solicitor, and i'm really proud of it. Nonetheless, i've been longing for almost 10 years to put on one of these "taxi-driver-look-alike" uniforms. It does mean a lot to me.

Well, that's all for now. Still got a lot of things to do with so little time. Till meet again :)

Sorry for the poor quality of the pics, took them by using phone camera. What happened to my digicam? You don't wanna know...trust me.

The Smile

Hi guys! How all of u have been doing? Well, i'm gonna continue writing about my story and the transition from the world of legal profession to become a commercial pilot.

So, back to the story, after been thinking again and again on which path to choose, i decided to enroll in the matriculation centre of IIUM in 2002, to read law. In matric, the schedule was packed with so many subjects. It so happened that on the first day we attended one class and the subject was Islamic Legal History, we need to introduce ourselves by writing our names, ages, schools and lastly - ambitions on a piece of paper.

So what i wrote was that i wanted to become a commercial pilot. When she read my paper, the lecturer asked which one is me, then i raised my hand. She smiled. I thought she's just being cynical as if telling - "if u wanted to become a commercial pilot then what the heck are u doing now in my Islamic Legal History class instead of Navigation or Meteorology?"

After class, she asked me about my plan and so on, and i told her that i'm gonna pursue my dream again after graduation. Again, she smiled . Then she asked, "why are u here?Is it ur parents' choice or yours? I replied, "i want to get a law degree first as law is my second interest.I'd save the best for last, and yes - IT IS my choice, madam."

She kept smiling. Then she said, "It's a very good plan, at least u know what to do. By the way, my husband is a First Officer in Malaysia Airlines". I startled. Then, i told myself, "patutla asyik senyum je, laki dia pilot rupenye" :) The story continues...

A Lawyer Becoming A Pilot

Once upon a time, there was a little boy whose father was living in Kuala Lumpur while the boy and his mother were staying in Kota Bharu, Kelantan. On every weekend, the father would board a flight to come home. and the boy and his mother would fetch the head of the family at the airport.

Being a regular visitor of the Sultan Ismail Petra Airport at that time, the boy had a chance to see the planes took-off and landing on the runway. Everytime the plane took off, the boy will run alongside the fence and making the similar sound as produced by the CFM56-3C1 engine of the Boeing 737-400.

He started to wonder, "how does a such big, heavy, metal bird can fly up in the sky?" The next question that's begging for an answer- "who is flying this thing?" Later, he found out that they are called PILOTS. Then he said to himself that he wanted to become one, to fly like a bird, high in the blue skies. Then, his journey began..

Well, enough about the fairy tale. We all know who am i talking about :P

What happen next was that, after getting the result for my Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia in 2001, i received an offer to read law in International Islamic University Malaysia (UIA). During that time, i was like half-hearted and in dilemma whether to pursue my childhood dream or to grab any offer that comes first.

After painstakingly considered all the options and with the advice from my parents, i chose to accept the offer first as i think to get a law degree isn't a bad idea at all. As a matter of fact, law is the second thing that interests me. Besides, there's no age limit to obtain a Commercial Pilot License, and having a degree would definitely be an advantage for me. (even one of Air Asia pilots has Ph.D in geotechnical engineering) :P

Former lecturer who became a commercial pilot - Dr. Thirunavukkarasu Jr

But i had to bear in mind that, it's gonna take me another 6 years (managed to do it in 5) before graduation and anything can happen between that time. I knew it's not gonna be easy for me, people study law to become a lawyer (or something related - Magistrates,DPPs etc. ), but to become a pilot?Hmmm...sounds too remote , isn't it? Nonetheless, i believe i can make it through. Just like Miley Cyrus soundtrack in Hannah Montana - Get The best Of Both Worlds! :)

Well, the story continues...

The Blog's Title

Hmmm...don't worry, this blog isn't just about motorsport drifting. It's about a dream of a little boy who wanted to fly like a bird, up in the blue skies. Well, let's skip the "flying" part first, shall we? Back to the blog's title, the word "drifter", according to answers.com, is defined as "One that drifts, especially a person who moves aimlessly from place to place or from job to job".

In another term, "drifter" refers to a participant in the drifting motorsport whereby "drifting" is defined as "driving technique and to a motor sport where the driver intentionally oversteers, causing loss of traction in the rear wheels through turns, while preserving vehicle control and a high exit speed" (quoted from wikipedia.org). Too much of definitions eh?

So, in which category of "drifter" do i fall under? Definitely, i am BOTH. (erkk..u can skip the "aimlessly" part).I do know exactly what i am doing, or at least i think so ~hehehe. As for now, let's have a sneak preview on the fun side of motorsport drifting.

Taking part in local drift events 2007. The AE86 (drift machine) was driven by me myself, co-piloted by a good friend of mine - Shahir and assisted by the rest of the team crew.Thank u guys, kudos to all of u!

DoriCon Chapter II : UiTM Shah Alam

DoriCon Chapter III : UKM, Bangi

The AE86 is now fitted with a new Vertex bodykit and painted in Pure White with pearl. The car is soon to be 'decomissioned' as a drift machine (kete je pencen, owner belum lagi, hehehe). Who knows, maybe one day a new monster will take place? :)

"Decomissioned" drift machine

Enough about motosport drifting, maybe i'll write about it some other time. In the next post, i'll continue writing about the story of a little boy whose dream is to soar in the blue skies. Till meet again folks! :)

The Journey Begins

It's about time. I believe this is the right time for me to start sharing about my journey - past, present and future.

First and foremost, i'd like to share with the beloved readers on the reason why this blog is created. It's about a little boy who has been dreaming to reach the skies, but ended up in something else. Something totally different. Nonetheless, he never give up,ever. He believes that impossible is nothing. With the spirit and determination, he begins his journey, going through interesting experience along the way, feeling the joy and the pain, in smiles and tears.

Well, i guess that's about it. I wish that i can gain more experience and knowledge from this journey, to be shared with the readers. Hopefully, it will be of great benefit to others as well as to me, myself. Insya'allah. The journey continues...
